What I've been up to?

Well seeing as there has been a four month gap between posting I thought that I may as well explain myself.

The main reason for my lack of any posts is the fact that come June 4th (I do believe that's the right date) I've exams. So basically at the start of november I was studying for Christmas exams, then as soon as I go back from Christmas I was studying for pres which are now over.

A lot has changed since November let me tell you. I dyed my hair brown St.Stephan's day and after about three more dyings with a few bleachings I've come to the realisation my hair will no longer hold dye for longer than a week before fading to ginger. So for the meantime while I wait for my hair to gain a bit of strength I'll be sporting red locks:

That's actually all I've done for four months now that I think about it. When my face wasn't stuck in a book I was trying to fix my hair...

I hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas'. Funnily enough my cousin Mary went into labour Christmas morning, so things were more mental than usual.

Concerning the blog I'm going to revamp it soon, I plan on posting a lot more often and although my posts will lean on the beauty/fashion blogger side of blogging, knowing me I will more than likely have a miscellaneous range of posts, I'll try not to veer too much off topic.

Hope ye bear with me while I try to get this blog right!

Risotto recipe.

Long time no.. Ehm type ? Anyway I've a catchup post that I hope to have up by Wednesday. But for now I have my go to risotto recipe. It's plain and simple and you can add what you want to it. At first I thought that risotto was too hard, which quickly changed after I found the right recipe. But considering I'm not a chef I could be doing this all wrong, ah well.

Ingredients: two small servings or one big one.

140g of arborio rice
1 whole onion
1 clove of garlic
500ml of stock, I typically use veg stock but here I used beef.
Veg of choice, here I used green beans but anything goes within reason.
Parmesan, how much depends on personal preference.
1/2 a tsp of cracked black pepper(I like a lot of pepper)-optional
Salt and pepper to taste.

Method:
1: Heat a pan on a medium heat. Dice onion add to pan, mince garlic also add to pan. Fry for 2-3 minutes.
2: When the onions go translucent, add the arborio rice and dry fry for 2 minutes
3: For my stock I used a stock pot with a litre of water, because I was using beef which wasn't exactly ideal.
4: Add a ladle of stock at a time, waiting for the liquid to evaporate before adding another. Repeat until stock is gone.
4: Slice up green beans and add to the pan.
5: Here are ingredients I didn't mention because I wouldn't suggest putting them in. Bad call on my part.
Oregano, thyme and ground basil. I would recommend using those herbs in any Italian tomato dishes though
6: I added the Parmesan in and stirred.
Then serve with dish of choice. My favourite way to use this recipe is by adding white wine during cooking and serving with lemon chicken

Apologies in advance if this poisons you, as I said before not a chef I just like to mess with food.

7 Things I love about winter.

It's official it's winter, bar the whole November is the start of winter thing that I'm supposed to follow I actually have my own way. I hope ye're following me on what I'm saying. But anyway I never really accept the season unless I feel like its that season. I'm saying this out loud and I do admit I sound mental. Okay so unless I've got all the usual characteristics of winter I don't accept that it is winter, like it has to be cold ect. If you still have no clue about what I'm on about then I'm afraid you still won't in ten minutes time.

1:Cold weather.
This is a bit like marmite, you either love it or you hate it. I actually love cold weather, I'm starting to notice that it's getting cold around 5 pm because that's when I walk the Madra after school and I'll admit I am one of those people who although they love something they will complain about it like there is no tomorrow. Back to the weather, I've actually no clue why but I just love throwing on a tracksuit layering up and going outside in the freezing cold. I've just always been one of those people who'd rather be in a cold room than a hot room.
Lovely Irish weather.

2:Better skin.
I find that my skin on my face gets dryer which is a good thing for me personally because I've got normal-oily skin. So seeing as my skin gets dried up my acne and any other blemishes seem to disappear.

3:Winter clothing.
I love jumpers, skiny jeans, knee high boots, big coats, hoodies and all the other things that go with sinter clothing not to mention fluffy socks are a gift from heaven. It really is a bit of a confidence boost because you well Atleast I personally feel less self conscious about my body because everyone is in layers and nobody really knows what you look like underneath the two coats and three jumpers.

4:Dirty blonde-light brown hair
I am a natural blonde bar the ombré at the ends so during the summer I get natural highlights then in winter my hair gets darker.
Winter hair ^^^ trust me that was an unattractive picture not to mention the haircut. Appologies for the face exing
10 months later- Summer hair
maybe I should've taken a new photo, a well ill post it for the sake of my blog if I've got time tomorrow I'll take a better one and edit it in. Ye get the gist anyway.

5:Winter scarves
Okay I didn't include this in winter clothing as I probably should've but scarves are an accessory that holds the look of clothes together. I love thick knit scarves as much as I love normal scarves. Which Is why I've been wearing the same burgandy knit scarf from dunnes for two months.

6:Beanies
Once again these are accessories. I'm after really getting into the beanie/hat craze thing as it usually is during the colder months. I like them because the keep my easily cold ears warm and I never sit them on my forehead because that annoys the absolute life out of me.

7:Pepermint flavoured confectionary.
I love Pepermint so of course during the Christmas season everywhere stocks some form of Pepermint sweets my favourite of course are still candy canes. Pepermint in my opinion smells like Christmas and brings back early memories

Better stop at seven, it is my lucky number after all.

44 days til Christmas!!!! Would it be socially unacceptable to put up decorations now ? Maybe I'll wait til Atleast the end of november.

Insomnia and I

No this post isn't a recipe or another review or even anything to do with a proper blog post, it's about me and my insomnia (I know major shocker ? ). It's three am and I just can't sleep, my eyes are hanging and I'm falling asleep in the chair but as soon as I lie down I get a burst of energy and end up downstairs watching very bad tv once again.

Honestly it's getting on my nerves because I can't even concentrate I'm so tired so it's not like I could write my French letters or my Irish essay because after attempting the Irish one I swear it's like half Irish half random language my head made up :')

Like seriously right now there's a curtain making diy on tv and I'm actually watching it. I've tried watching videos on YouTube but they keep buffering and I don't have the patience to wait ten seconds to watch two seconds of film for twenty minutes.

The dog's in seventh heaven right now though because he's fast asleep on my lap, which never usually happens. He's usually at the end of my bed being odd.

Okay so tomorrow I can hardly do all my work tomorrow so now I'll have to do my French now and do the essay tomorrow but I've already got the plans done so it can't be majorly hard ? My only saving grace is the fact that my business accounts aren't due til Tuesday but I think I could do without home ec Monday, between getting asignments in on time and learning the mass amount of knowledge being drilled into us at the moment I've really got to buckle down and study for exams. Buh bye social life, well Atleast that shred of what I had left of one. I really wish I could fast forward to June and just get them over and done with, its agony constantly getting lectures about exams. They really were right back in August the teachers were telling us that the year would fly and that we need to study and of course everyone scoffed at the idea but after what feels like a day it's now November and I've got a month til exams and two and a half months until pre's then it's study study study until major exams on June 4th I believe which is also annoying as I will be sitting an exam for my birthday June 9th fingers crossed it's not something I hate *cough cough* home ec.

On a lighter note I'm redecorating my room next weekend and I shal be taking a trip to ikea for the first time ever! I'm still unsure what colour though. Actually I wanted black and then to get extremely bright accessories but that got vitoed. Does anyone know any colours besides yellow-orange-red which makes rooms seem smaller?. I know it's so strange question because most people are trying to make their rooms look brighter and bigger but I'm more of a cozy person so to say. I'm deffinately painting my floor black though to match my old fashioned black metal framed bed.

I've just suddenly realised how cold I actually am, it's absolutely freezing! I might turn on the heating... Nah it'd wake the whole house up.

If anyone is up reading this I hope my weirdness has entertained you.

Review: On the spot foundation- Seventeen

I was passing through boots looking for a last minute foundation and I saw this and thought it sounded interesting and for only €8.45 I believe, also seeing as I was nowhere ne'er a Gosh counter I said why the hell not ? Maybe I should've thought twice.
It claims to aid in keeping skin clear and all it's done for me Is that it's broken my skin out even more. But I have sensitive skin so that could be the reason why. It is in fair which I believe is the lightest they have. It is a full coverage foundation and it has SPF15 which is good I suppose but we hardly need it here in Ireland at the moment, well Atleast here in Cork  :
Anyway back to the review.
It is a pump-cap lid, which I quite like and it evenly distributes the product and one pump gives this amount of product(see below)
When I first blended it in it was my exact colour match, then it oxidized like hell and I looked like an ompaloompa. I think if they did like an extra fair it may have oxidized into my actual skintone.
As for coverage I didn't even need a concealer so on that hand it was amazing.
Would I buy it again ? Maybe if they made a new formula I would.
As they say you get what you pay for so in general I'm not that annoyed bar my skin breakout.

My Halloween makeup idea number one. Zombie/witch /green creature.

Halloween is literally three days away and I am so so excited, I think I may love Halloween more than Christmas. Anyway if your like me and not very organised and you're currently scanning the interweb looking for last minute ideas which to be honest aren't very expensive and where you can use things you have in your makeup bag so that you don't have to drag yourself to the party shop, which to be fair are mahemic at the moment. Then I think I may be able to help you out . (Apologies in advance for really bad photos as I didn't take alot) This is not really a tutorial but if you want to see how I did it I might make a YouTube tutorial if ye would like (comment below if it is something ye'd be interested in.)

So this was an attempt at a you tubers (ill edit her name in later ) zombie makeup tutorial and I failed at it but I don't think I completely failed as I feel if I added a witch nose and a pointed hat I could be yer one from wicked (I think the wicked witch of the east I'm not positive). If you were doing it, I think you should consider latex wounds like the one I did here:

I did do contouring for the first time ever and not too shabby if you ask me.
Creepy stare whoooooooo the eyeshadow is basically my eye colour
What I used :Green eyeshadow (light green and an isadora khaki from one of their quads)
Black eyeshadow (hammer and ruby I think that's what they are called)
                     Maybeline liquid eyeliner
Red liquid lipstick (not the best description but I'll write a post about it later)
                     Brushes and that's it .
I would recommend continuing it down your neck as it looks kinda odd if you don't. (But of course ye know that already )
I will probably do two more of these if I come up with anything else.
Ps:I'd recommend face paint as using eyeshadow takes about two and a half hours.

Annoying things I do/ my faults.

I know every single person out there has at least one fault (Atleast I hope so ) personally I've got a good few. I actually enjoy reading these sort of posts as let's be honest you either get a really small ego boost or you get that sense of association/ feels (can't believe I just wrote that ). Anyway I'm going to get started before I go off topic.

1: Cracking my knuckles: I'm preety sure a good few people now hate me because of this
2: Speaking: I have a high pitched voice, not chipmunk-like but fairly close. My friends don't mind but there are a few people that make a point of telling me every time we talk.
3: Tapping: I tap my hands or fingers off tables
4: Clicking pens
5: Over-packing: I'm a 10 outfits for two days kind of girl.
6: Hiding food: I've no clue why I do this but when I have pre-packed food like chewits or peanuts even bottled drinks, I hide them around the house. Never fresh food of course and I always eat it the day after. But still I've put it in the book case, in the press even in vases.
7: I'm loud: Actually that's not true, if you don't know me you'll probably think I'm shy and slightly awkward but the people who do know me know that I am really loud and extremely awkward.
8: I ignore people I don't know: I honestly don't do this intentionally, but If I have to be paired with randomers or I'm with a group of friends and some people I don't know come over I won't talk to them or make eye contact with them. You can probably imagine how 'easy' it is for me to make new friends. But I am starting to grow out of this one.

I think that's about it. It's probably not but ahhhwell.

Edit : I'm extremely clumsy so I break things a lot including a glass snow globe which costed 30 quid.
